Due to a police incident at Meadowhall Interchange a number of transport routes were affected on Saturday (9th March).
Northern Rail said that “due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Meadowhall some lines are blocked”
Tram Trains will not be running from Tinsley to Parkgate. Tickets accepted on First and Stagecoach buses from Meadowhall and Rotherham.
Police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the Greasbrough area at around 2am this morning (Saturday 9th March)
The Red Toyota was was followed through Greasbrough, Wingfield, Bradgate, Kimberworth, Richmond Park, Droppingwell and Blackburn before being forced to stop by police specials with a stinger on Meadowbank Road.
It’s believe the vehicle believed stolen and four arrests were made for theft of vehicle, no insurance, no licence and failing to stop for police.
Police were called to Bridgegate in the Town Centre at 4.45pm this evening (9th March) to reports of an assault in the road.
A police spokesperson said: “One man has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries.”
“Five people have been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
Bridgegate remains cordoned off whilst officers investigate the incident.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to assist but the injured male was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
Anyone with information about the incident is advised to call police on 101.
The operation began early this morning with a public multi-agency briefing outside Riverside House attended by Chief Constable Stephen Watson.
Chief Inspector Chris Foster said spoke about the the activities that will be taking place throughout the day: โBy now, most people will have seen or experienced an Operation Duxford in Rotherham before.โ

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said “it is believed that the offenders used a vehicle to gain access to the store before taking a quantity of cigarettes
The Undergate Road store was raided at 1.16am on Monday (4th March).
The spokesperson added “there have been no arrests made at this time and enquiries are ongoing”

At around 7.15am, an unknown man entered the Post Office in Thurcroft, on Green Arbour Road, and threatened staff with a knife, a police spokesperson said.
The man then fled the scene with a quantity of cash.
The man is is described as being white, of medium build, and was wearing a pale-coloured coat with a hood and carrying a backpack.

Emergency Services are in attendance on Broom Lane after a two vehicle collision.
It’s believed fire fighters are using specialist equipment to extract an individual from one of the vehicles
A Police spokeswoman said that a woman suffered head injuries after being involved in a collision with a car on Friday (1st March).
“The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.”
The Air Ambulance attended the scene but the patient was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 385 of March 1.
Police said that CCTV footage showed that the vehicle was heading through green traffic lights as it hit the elderly woman on the crossing, before the driver stopped immediately afterwards.
Bawtry Road was closed from Wickersley Roundabout heading towards Wickersley School during the incident.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said “the woman was taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”

An air ambulance was called in this evening (27th February) after a pedestrian was believed to have been hit on the crossing.
A road closure is currently in place to allow an accident investigation to take place, a vehicle involved remains on the scene.
Traffic is flowing in the opposite direction.
