Emergency services were called at 5.25pm on Saturday 4th January to reports of a road traffic collision on Greens Way, opposite Mexborough train station in Doncaster.
It is reported that a black BMW which was travelling from the direction of Swinton was involved in a collision with a pedestrian who was crossing Greens Way from the train station side towards the town centre.
The pedestrian, a 68-year-old man from Mexborough was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specially trained officers, a spokesperson from South Yorkshire Police confirmed.
The driver of the BMW, a 22-year-old man from Mexborough was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, who may have seen the driving manner of the vehicle prior to the collision, or who may have any information that can help with enquiries.

Police received a call from hospital staff in Sheffield just before 12:20pm on New Yearโs Day at 12.20pm stating that an 18-year-old man had presented with a stab wound to his buttock.ย
The victim reported being assaulted on Rother View Road, Canklow, at about 7am that morning by two people.
An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody this afternoon (Thursday).

Police were called to a property on Lindley Street at around 7.50pmย on Monday (30th December) after it was reported a 46-year-old woman had suffered a head injury.
The woman was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition this morning, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the scene, landing in Tesco car parkย butย the woman was transported by road ambulance. The helicopter landed at Thomas Rotherham College shortly after departing the carpark for around 20 minutes before returning to base.
“A 49-year-old man, known to the woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and remains in custody at this time”

Police were callled at around 5.40pm yesterday evening (12th December) after it was reported that a red Mercedes SLK travelling along Bawtry Road towards Wickersley roundabout was involved in a collision with a pedestrian and his dog.
The pedestrian, a 76-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
His dog also died at the scene, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police confirmed

Police who discovered a ยฃ75,000 cannabis grow in the Stag area had a surprise when they discovered a number of weapons including a pellet gun, can of pepper spray and a pitch-fork like object inside the house on Stag Lane.

Police confirmed that nobody had been arrested at the, however enquiries are ongoing to locate the suspect.
The discovery was made whilst attending a house fire at a next door property.
At around 4:21pm Fire crews equipped with breathing apparatus entered the property to extinguish the fire and make sure there was nobody inside a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue confirmed.
South Yorkshire Police said they attended as ‘crowd control’ but later discovered a cannabis set up in an adjacent property.ย
No one was injured during the fire and Fire Crews left the scene at 8:15pm.
