A 37-year-old man has appeared in court charged with misuse of a public communications network
Police charged Nathan Andrews, of Greasbrough with misuse of a public communications network in relation to a series of nuisance calls into South Yorkshire Police Force Control Room over the festive period.
Andrews appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court yesterday (29 December). He has since been released on bail and will appear before the same court on 24 April 2024.
A police spokesperson said “Christmas and the New Year period is an extremely busy time for our Force Control Room, and we are working hard to answer your emergency and non-emergency calls as quickly as possible.”
“Making false allegations and nuisance calls can prevent us answering your calls and could put others at risk who need our help. We’d like to remind the public that we will take robust action against offenders who seek to cause harm in this way.”
