Woman arrested in connection with the murder of 80-year-old Tommy Ward

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Tommy Ward.

On Thursday, 1 October 2015, emergency services were called to Tommy’s house in Salisbury Road, Maltby. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A safety deposit box containing around £30,000 in cash was also reportedly taken from the 80-year-old’s home during the incident.

Sadly, Tommy died several months later on Tuesday, 23 February 2016. It was determined that he died as a result of the injuries he suffered during an assault.

A murder investigation was launched, and ten men and one women were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences. All were later released with no further action.

Today (19 August) a 36-year-old woman from Rotherham has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
