A charity providing Santa visits in Rotherham has expressed worries about possible changes to their schedule after receiving abuse.
Maltby and Rother Valley Lions, a charitable organization founded in 1978, offer festive sleigh visits featuring Santa Claus in different neighborhoods within the borough in the lead-up to Christmas.
This year, volunteers encountered mistreatment from the public, sparking worries about potential issues for upcoming routes.
The Charity have said they will be adopting a โzero-toleranceโ approach, and they are considering changes to next yearโs routes due to these unfortunate incidents. โWe maintain a zero-tolerance policy.โ
โRegrettably, our members and volunteers, who generously dedicate their time to spreading Christmas joy in Rother Valley, have faced unacceptable verbal abuse from members of the public over the past few days These incidents compel us to consider potential adjustments to our sleigh routes in the coming years.โ
The challenges encountered by volunteers have saddened residents who view these visits as a cherished part of the festive season.
The charity toured the streets of Rother Valley for 28 nights from the 8th of December up until Christmas Eve. During the Festive period, the charity raised raised a total of ยฃ17,396.
