A NEW National Highways van is trialling technology that can detect mobile phone and seatbelt offences
The van is trialling new technology that can detect drivers holding a mobile phone at the wheel and people failing to wear a seatbelt.
Operated by National Highways, the sensor vehicle is equipped with multiple cameras which records footage of passing drivers
Captured footage is processed using artificial intelligence (AI) and then drivers will be sent warning letters in partnership with the police force, informing them of the dangers of their actions with some cases leading to prosecution
National Highways is deploying the van along a variety of roads, in partnership with Warwickshire Police, for the next three months.
