Drink driver arrested after leaving injured passenger by the roadside

A drink driver that was double over the legal limit has been arrested after leaving the scene of an accident on Fitzwilliam Road this morning.

Police were called at 1:30am this morning (30th March) to a collision between a Corsa and an Astra on Fitzwilliam Road in Eastwood.

The female driver of the Corsa left scene of the accident leaving her passenger with leg and pelvis injuries at the side of the road, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police Operational Support confirmed on Facebook.

The Astra driver suffered minor injuries. 

“Due to the state of the vehicles we were very concerned for the driver so family members and the police were sent looking for her.”

“She was located at 5.30am with minor leg injuries and went onto provide an alcohol breath sample of over double the legal limit.”

“She will be interviewed then sent to court”
