Police investigating stabbing of 15-year-old in Whiston

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was stabbed during an attempted robbery in Whiston

Police were called at around 6.30pm on Tuesday (9 August) to the Co-Op on Worry Goose Lane following reports of a 15-year-old boy with stab wounds.

It is reported the victim and a friend were on a walkway behind Greystones Road, Whiston, when they were approached by two unknown men who attempted to steal a gold chain from the victim, stabbing him during the scuffle.

The victim managed to walk to the Co-Op and raise the alarm. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

DS Christopher Byne, investigating, said: โ€œI know incidents like this are a great cause of concern to the community, and enquiries to identify the individuals responsible are continuing.

โ€œI want to appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to please come forward and speak to us.

โ€œWe are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen the offenders either before, during or after the assault.โ€
