A deliberate fire in the early hours of this morning caused significant damage to a Mexborough shop.
Firefighters from Dearne, Rotherham and Edlington stations were called at 0.05am this morning (27 March) to reports of a shop on Bank Street, Mexborough.
Upon arrival, firefighters wearing breathing entered the premises and extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
A spokesperson from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said that the fire had been started deliberately in a number of different places by using petrol as an accelerant.
Nobody was injured in the incident and it had been dealt with by 1.40am.
