Firefighters tackle furnace fire

Firefighters from Rotherham, Elm Lane, Dearne and Parkway stations were called to a aluminium factory at 3.43am this morning (Tuesday 26 March) to reports of a fire.

Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus went in to tackle the fire and had extinguished it by 4.49am.

Upon arrival of the crews they discovered a fire within a furnace that had got out of control.

It’s believed the fire had started accidentally, a spokesperson confirmed.

Firefighters left site at around 5am.
