Guests at Hellaby Hall Hotel were treated for breathing difficulties after a chemical leak at the weekend

Police said Emergency Services were called to Hellaby Hall Hotel at about 09:00 BST on Sunday (06 May) following reports of a suspected chlorine leak at the hotel gym, leading to the leisure area being evacuated.

A number of emergency vehicles attended to the scene, including the Yorkshire ambulance serviceโ€™s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said that 29 people were assessed at the scene with five taken to hospital with breathing issues.

Police said in a statement: โ€œA number of leisure centre guests were treated at the scene by paramedics, some of which were taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

โ€œEmergency services remained at the scene to carry out inquiries.โ€
