Fifteen homes were evacuated after a suspicious package was found at a property on Canklow Road
South Yorkshire Police were called to Rother View Road in Canklow at 7.19pm on Thursday (August 8) after receiving reports that a suspicious package had been found.
The army’s Explosive Ordinance Team (EOD) attended the scene alongside the emergency services.
A cordon and evacuation of 15 properties in the immediate surroundings took place as a precaution whilst work was carried out.
Police issued a further update shortly before 2am this morning (August 9) advising that the area had been made safe by the army’s EOD team.
The evacuation zone had been reduced and residents were being advised that they could return safely to their homes.
