The M1 was closed overnight whilst Firefighters tackled a blaze involving a articulated lorry
The northbound carriageway was blocked between junctions 33 and 34, Meadowhall shortly before midnight on Friday (12 July) due to an articulated vehicle fire.
ย Firefighters from Parkway, Rotherham, Maltby and Elm Lane station attended the incident.
Local residents of Brinsworth became aware of the fire after hearing several explosions.
Crews left the scene at 4:40am. While the southbound lanes reopened shortly after 5 am, the recovery of the lorry and cleanup efforts continued to cause delays.
By 8 am, lanes one, two, and three on the northbound side had reopened.
