Man, 26, stabbed in the stomach in Town Centre after 2am ‘altercation’

A man has been arrested following a stabbing in the Town Centre on Saturday

South Yorkshire Police said they received reports of a 26-year-old suffering with a stab wound to his stomach on College Street just after 2am on Saturday (29 June).

It’s believed that an altercation took place between the victim and a group of five men in Minster Gardens.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his abdomen. His injuries are thought to be serious but not life-threatening

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and wounding with intent to cause harm. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident to call 101 and quote incident number 100 of 29 June 2024.
