Recycling Plant warns “be aware of what you are placing in your waste” following Fire

by Admin

Following a waste fire at the recycling plant its owners have issued a safety message advising customers to dispose waste more responsibly

SIX Fire Crews were called to a fire at KCM Waste Management on Gin House Lane on Friday (12th May)

In a Facebook post, KCM Waste Management said โ€œDue to our Fire Management Plan and the incredible work of South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, this was controlled and extinguished quickly and safely.โ€

โ€œWe would like to remind all customers to please be aware of what you are placing in your waste containers. Items such as batteries, e-cigarettes, gas cannisters, aerosols etc. are highly flammable and must NOT be disposed of within your skips or bins.โ€

โ€œIf you are ever unsure about any item going into your skip, PLEASE call us to check first. We can easily organise alternative disposal of these items for you.โ€

โ€œA huge thank you to South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and our on site team for working so hard to prevent escalation and ensure we can continue to operate.โ€

in July last year SIX Fire Crews were called to the same plant.
