Man (39) dies following Bradgate assault

A 39-year-old man who was left critically injured following an assault in the Bradgate area has died.ย 

The man was found lying unconscious, with life-threatening injuries on Midland Road, at the junction with Garden Street at around 6.25pm last Monday (4 February),

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said โ€œhe was taken to hospital where he sadly died yesterday afternoon (Sunday 10 February).โ€

Three men, aged 18, 19 and 37, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident remain on police bail.

Detective Chief Inspector James Axe, leading the investigation, said: โ€œAs our enquiries continue we remain keen to hear from anyone who was in the area when the assault took place.ย 

โ€œWhile the man has not yet been formally identified, his family have been informed and are continuing to receive support from specialist officers.โ€

โ€œWe are aware that there were people in the area at the time of the offence and I would ask that these individuals contact us.

โ€œAt that time on a Monday evening, many people may have also been returning home from work, or heading out โ€“ did you see what happened? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously?ย 

โ€œAny information you have could prove vital in helping us to piece together what happened to the victim. Weโ€™re also keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage.ย
