Christmas came early for hundreds of Rotherham residents as they scooped a share of the biggest-ever single prize in the People’s Postcode Lottery
A total of 561 players celebrated after winning a share of the historic £17.5 million prize pot.
The top prize winner, holding two tickets, walked away with an astonishing £836,114, after the full winning postcode S65 3QP was announced in December’s Postcode Millions draw. Meanwhile, three of their lucky neighbours each won an impressive £418,057.
The remaining 557 players in the S65 3 area also enjoyed sizeable wins, ranging from £24,266 to £97,064, depending on how many tickets they held.
The good news was revealed at a special celebration at Rotherham’s Magna Science Adventure Centre, where Postcode Lottery ambassadors Matt Johnson, Danyl Johnson, and Judie McCourt were on hand to share the excitement.
Matt said: “What an incredible, unforgettable day! It was such a joy to celebrate the biggest-ever Postcode Lottery prize with the winners in Rotherham. I hope they treat themselves this Christmas and enjoy spending their winnings!”
Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £1.4 billion for charities and local good causes, including organisations near the lucky Rotherham winners.
One recipient is Headway Rotherham, which received £25,000 in funding this year. Based in Rawmarsh, the charity supports individuals affected by brain injuries, providing crucial services like a freephone helpline, emergency assistance, and Headway Acute Trauma Support (HATS) nurses to help families during critical care stages.
