Homebuilder Avant has withdrawn itโ€™s plans for a 450-house development located on greenbelt land north of Worrygoose Lane

Applicants AE Waddington, R Parkes, and V Foers collaborated with JVH Town Planning and WYG to secure outline planning approval, despite receiving over 300 letters of representation during the proposalโ€™s review by Rotherham Council Planning Board.

Concerns about flood risk were raised, but Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) stated that its drainage department, along with Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency, deemed the proposed attenuation tanks an acceptable solution.

The planning application for the site, submitted by Avant Homes, remains undecided. However, the Whiston Residents Action Group (WRAG) has reported a significant development.

โ€œLast week, WRAG participated in an online meeting at the request of MP Jake Richards, where we were informed that Avant Homes no longer have an interest in this land and will not proceed with the development,โ€ the group announced.

Letters have been sent to residents by the local MP, inviting them to a public meeting on Sunday, November 24, at 12:30 pm. The meeting will offer an opportunity for residents to ask questions and express concerns.
