Police appeal following serious assault in Wath Upon Dearne

Detectives in Rotherham are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault believed to have taken place shortly after 9am yesterday in Wath Upon Dearne

Itโ€™s reported that a 25-year-old man presented himself at Rotherham hospital yesterday morning with a fractured eye socket, jaw and cheekbone, as well as substantial bruising to his body.

A police spokesperson said โ€œWe would like to identify any passers-by who saw this incident, and are particularly keen to speak to a man who we believe was jogging through the area at the time.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™d also like to encourage anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the Church Street, West Street, Barnsley Road and Biscay Lane areas between 9am and 9.45am to come forward.โ€

โ€œSix men aged between 18 and 58 have all arrested on suspicion of suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent to do GBHโ€

They are all on police bail at this time, the spokesperson confirmed
