A man is currently in police custody in connection with a series of thefts and vehicle interference incidents in Wickersley and Bramley
At around 3am yesterday (17 November), a man was captured on CCTV trying door handles of cars parked along Melhaven Way, Bramley. An iPad is reported to have been taken, as well as numerous confectionery items.
In the early hours of this morning (18 November), officers received further reports of a man breaking in to a car parked on Palm Hollow Close, Wickersley
A police spokesperson said โA description of the offender was circulated to officers which led to a 39-year-old man being detained close-by.โ
โHe was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and remains in police custody at this time.โ
Rotherham A/Sergeant Dan Guest said: โUnfortunately, burglaries and thefts do tend to spike this time of year, so please be vigilant; ensure vehicles are locked, no valuables are left on show and car keys are safely stored.
