Dream Job? South Yorkshire Police are expanding their team of Armed Response Officers

The force are seeking qualified armed police officers who are looking for a new challenge, policing in a diverse and ever changing part of the UK that serves a population of over 1 million.

The recruitment drive comes after Firearms Support Group (FSG) undertook 700-armed deployments across South Yorkshire last year, providing initial response and pre-planned support to incidents and investigations across the county.

SYP have a specialised firearms unit and do not undertake a ‘dual-role’ function. Between armed deployments officers assist with Force priorities, predominantly the targeting of armed criminality.

South Yorkshire Police said “We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working individuals to join our team as we move towards the inception of a standalone MAStS team from April 2021, where in return, we can offer you the opportunity to use and develop the skills you have been trained in.”

“In addition, we offer a variety of support initiatives to improve work/life balance. These include a positive health & wellbeing policy, reward leave and dependants’ leave for those unexpected moments in life.”

So, if you are

  • Passionate and dedicated to serving your community
  • Current authorised armed response vehicles officer
  • Trained to the national ARV role profile
  • Able to pass the JRFT to level 9-4
