Loud ‘Explosion’ heard from Rotherham Steel Works

We received reports around 11pm of THREE Loud ‘Explosions’ coming from the Liberty Steel Works in Aldwarke.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson has confirmed that this was caused by water mixing together with hot molten steel which resulted in a loud bang.

They added : “this is a normal processes at the steel works, and are not a cause for concern.”

These are regular movements within the steelworks, just not often as loud.

Many local residents took to Facebook describing the noise with many saying it “shook the house”
