Visitors to Rotherham will have an additional 40 temporary parking spaces to use in the town centre from Monday (8 October).
Following the demolition of the former Rotherham Magistrates Court, land at the Statutes, off Main Street, is now available for use as a car park.
Motorists can park for the following prices:
โข 2 hours โ ยฃ1
โข 4 hours โ ยฃ2
โข All day โ ยฃ3
Those who prefer to use a cashless option can pay using the RingGo App using the code 18472.
Blue badge holders can park free of charge in the designated disabled spaces.
These new spaces are in addition to those at nearby Forge Island, where motorists can enjoy two hours free parking on weekdays and free parking all day at the weekends in the โred zoneโ.
Rotherham Councilโs Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, Cllr Denise Lelliott said: โThese extra car parking spaces at the Statutes will give additional capacity to visitors to the town centre.
โWe now have a wide range of parking options available across the town centre, including free parking at both Forge Island and Drummond Street car parks, which we hope will give a boost to our town centre businesses in the run up to the Christmas period.
โWith a number of events coming up this autumn, including the International Market, the Rotherhowl Halloween town centre trail and Remembrance Sunday, I hope the additional parking capacity proves useful to shoppers and visitors.โ
Motorists wanting to access the new parking facilities can find the car park by turning left just after Main Street Police Station (from Centenary Way) or right before the police station if coming from Westgate.
