Two men have been arrested after a reported firearms discharge in the Clifton area
Police were called at 11.01pm on Monday (9 March) following reports that a gunshot had been heard in the area. Specially trained firearms officers attended and located evidence consistent with a firearm being discharged inside a property on Middle Lane.
An investigation was launched immediately, and today (Tuesday 10 March) officers arrested two 26-year-old men on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent. Both remain in police custody.
During the investigation, officers also recovered a suspected firearm believed to be a shotgun.
Following the incident, a man in his 40s sustained a minor injury, although police say it is not believed to have been caused by a firearm.
Police scenes remain in place on Middle Lane and Far Lane while officers continue their enquiries. Investigators are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area, reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements.
Detective Inspector Matt Barnes said significant progress had already been made in the case.

He added that residents in the Middle Lane and Far Lane areas will continue to see an increased police presence over the coming days.
