Thousands Without Water in Rotherham After Pump Station Power Failure
Thousands of residents across parts of Rotherham have been left without running water after a power outage struck Aughton Pumping Station
The disruption began at around 10pm on Saturday night (February 28), with households in the S25 and S26 postcode areas near Dinnington, as well as S66 to the east of Rotherham, reporting low water pressure or a complete loss of supply.
In a statement on its website, Yorkshire Water said: “We’ve had a power outage at a pumping station on our network, which means customers in S25/S26/S66 may have low water pressure or no water. Thank you for bearing with us whilst we work to restore supplies as soon as possible.”
Concerns have been raised about the lack of prior notice and the potential impact on vulnerable residents.
Yorkshire Water has said it is working to restore supplies as quickly as possible. Customers in affected areas are advised to monitor the company’s website and social media channels for further updates as engineers continue efforts to resolve the issue.
