Detectives investigating reports of a crime involving a grave in Rotherham have made a fourth arrest as enquiries continue
On Tuesday evening (3 March), a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal damage. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The arrest relates to an incident involving one grave within the churchyard at All Saints Church in Laughton-en-le-Morthen.
Two 25-year-old men and a 53-year-old man were previously arrested in February on suspicion of causing a public nuisance and conspiracy to commit criminal damage. All three men remain on bail while investigations continue.
Police maintained a presence at the churchyard for eight days while officers carried out enquiries. During this time, the churchyard was closed to the public but has since reopened.
The investigation remains ongoing and officers are continuing to appeal for information from the public. Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was on Rotherham Lane between the evening of Saturday 31 January and the morning of Sunday 1 February who may have seen anything suspicious or may have CCTV footage or images.
Officers are also asking anyone who visited the churchyard between Thursday 29 January and Sunday 1 February to come forward.
