A 91-year-old woman who later died from serious injuries was the victim of theft on the same day she is believed to have been attacked, detectives have revealed
Elizabeth โBettyโ Clark was discovered with severe injuries at a property on Peveril Close in Kiveton Park on 11 September. She was taken to hospital but sadly passed away two months later, on 12 November.
Promptly after Betty’s death, detectives in our Major Crime Unit launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
Detectives now believe that Betty’s sustained her injuries on 10 September and that her bank card was stolen on this day, and was used for multiple transactions between Wednesday 10 September and Tuesday 16 September around the Kiveton Park area.
Detective Inspector Adam Watkinson, who is the senior investigating officer on this case, said: “Our enquiries have suggested that Betty was unfortunately a victim of a theft the day before she was found with her injuries. Our enquiries remain on going but we are particularly interested in anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Kiveton Park area between 10 and 16 September.”
“Betty was well-loved within her local community, by her many friends, family and neighbours, and our priority remains the same – to find answers.”
The 47-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder in December, remains on police bail at this time.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
