Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Barnsley in the early hours of this morning
At 2.15am today (Saturday 28 February), officers were called to reports of a collision on the M1 southbound at junction 37.
It is reported that a white DAF Trucks HGV was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on the main carriageway.
Officers attended the scene alongside the ambulance service. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian โ an elderly man โ sadly died at the scene.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, but officers are making enquiries with who they believe to be the manโs next of kin.
An investigation is now underway and officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who saw the pedestrian in the area prior to the incident. This includes anyone who may have seen him on Dodworth Road or the southbound entry slip road to junction 37.
