A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault following an incident in Swinton during the early hours of this morning
Police were called at 2.39am on Saturday 21 February to reports that a 16-year-old girl had sustained injuries to her face, believed to have been caused by a knife.
Officers carried out enquiries in the area and were led to the grounds of St Margaret’s Church on Church Street, where a police scene remains in place as investigations continue.

The teenage victim was taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.
A knife has been recovered and a 17-year-old boy remains in police custody.
Police are appealing for information and are urging anyone who may be able to assist with enquiries to report online or call 101, quoting incident number 96 of 21 February 2026.
