A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 91-year-old woman
On Thursday 11 September, Elizabeth “Betty” Clark was found with serious injuries on Peveril Close in Kiveton Park. She was taken to hospital for treatment but tragically died as a result of her injuries on Wednesday 12 November.
Following weeks of investigative work, detectives have today (Friday 5 December) arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Bettyโs family are being supported by specialist officers and continue to request privacy as they navigate this extremely difficult time.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Adam Watkinson, said: “We have been working hard to determine the circumstances surrounding Betty’s death.
Our investigation has progressed significantly and we have arrested a man as our enquiries continue.
Betty was a well-loved family member, friend and neighbour, and our thoughts remain with her loved ones during this extremely difficult time.”
Detectives are still seeking information from the public and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed something suspicious in the Kiveton Park area on either Wednesday 10 or Thursday 11 September.
