A man who tried to flee from police after they uncovered a cannabis farm in Bradgate has been jailed
Officers were called to a property on Henley Grove Road, Rotherham, on 16 July, following reports of a burglary. When they entered the house, they discovered a substantial cannabis cultivation inside.
Inside the property was Xhevair Sheme, aged 25. While officers spoke to him, Sheme attempted to flee the scene, leading to a short foot chase before he was detained.
Once in custody, police identified Sheme as being wanted in connection with another cannabis farm previously found at a property on Loxley New Road, Sheffield.
That earlier discovery was made on 16 April, when an electrical company worker visited the address, found evidence of a cannabis grow, and alerted police. Sheme was reported to have been at the property at the time.
During police interviews, Sheme refused to answer any questions about either drugs farm. He was later charged with two counts of producing a controlled drug of Class B – cannabis.
Sheme, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to both offences and was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
