A driver from Rotherham has been disqualified from driving and ordered to complete hundreds of hours of unpaid work after his dangerous and inconsiderate behaviour left an elderly woman seriously injured
Mohammed Younis, 44, of Broom, Rotherham, appeared beforeย Sheffield Magistratesโ Courtย onย Monday 7 October, where he was found guilty ofย dangerous driving.
The court heard that onย 5 March last year, Younis was driving alongย Ship Hillย in Rotherham when he overtook a bus by driving into parking spaces near the town hall. After pulling in front of the bus, Younis abruptly slammed on his brakes, forcing the bus driver to perform an emergency stop.
During the sudden stop, an elderly passenger was thrown from her seat and into the aisle, sustaining serious injuries that required hospital treatment.
Younis stopped his car, got out and was verbally abusive towards the bus driver before leaving the scene.
Following an investigation by officers, Younis was interviewed but provided โno commentโ throughout. Despite showing no remorse for his actions, he was later found guilty of dangerous driving.
He was sentenced to 240 hours of unpaid work, disqualified from driving for 12 months, and must complete an extended retest before his licence is reinstated. Younis was also ordered to pay a ยฃ764 fine.
