Police are appealing for information following a firearms discharge that left two properties damaged
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday 21 September. At around 3 a.m., a man is alleged to have discharged a firearm at two properties on Hope Avenue before fleeing on foot.
South Yorkshire Police received a call about the incident later that evening, at 7:39 p.m., after the victimโwho initially thought the noise was a fireworkโdiscovered the damage and reported it.
Both properties were occupied at the time, but no one was hurt. Officers attending the scene found evidence consistent with a firearms discharge and remain in the area as inquiries continue.
Chief Inspector Kevin Bradley, of the Rotherham Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: โGun crime has no place in our communities and we will continue to work at pace to find those responsible.
โA patrol plan is in place in the area today and in the coming days to provide visibility and reassurance to residents who will rightly be concerned by these events.
โIt is only through chance that no-one was injured as a result of this reckless incident, which took place whilst residents were asleep in their beds.
โWe are determined to find the individual responsible and bring them to justice. However, we need the help of the community to tackle gun crime, and if you have any information that could aid our investigation, I am asking you to please get in touch.โ
