A well-known bar in Rotherham town centre is set to be demolished following the approval of plans for a new six-storey apartment block
SME Holdings Ltd, the applicants behind the proposal, intend to tear down The Forgeโa bar and food hall located on Domine Laneโand replace it with a modern residential building named Forge Apartments.
The development will deliver 16 high-end homes, including two duplex apartments and two penthouse suites.

The site has historical significance, with the existing structure dating back to 1907 when it served as Rotherhamโs main post office.
The new design will incorporate a brick faรงade inspired by the original buildingโs distinctive tall brickwork, which followed the curve of the road.
Main access for most residents will be via Domine Lane, while the two duplex apartments will be entered through an adjoining building on Market Street.
