A farmer’s wife has been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison after attacking her estranged husband with a lump hammer during their acrimonious divorce
Seventy-year-old Pamela Teasdale struck her husband of 44 years, 75-year-old Daniel Teasdale, ‘several times’ while he was watching television at Burne Farm in Todwick on 21 August 2023.
The couple were embroiled in a bitter legal dispute over their separation and the ownership of a converted barn on their property.
Despite securing a £1.8 million divorce settlement — which Daniel Teasdale was still partially contesting — Pamela carried out the attack during the height of their legal battles.
Pamela had already pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and to stalking her husband while on bail.
Due to a conflict of interest involving a mutual acquaintance with the Recorder of Sheffield, the sentencing was moved outside the South Yorkshire court circuit.
After the attack, Pamela fled, unaware that her car was fitted with a tracker. Police located her near Rotherham, where they found her semi-conscious following a suspected overdose. She was taken to hospital and remained unconscious until the next day, when she was arrested.
Although initially released on bail, Pamela was re-arrested on 5 May 2024 for stalking after Daniel reported seeing her photographing him from a car while he worked on the farm.
