Two men have been arrested following an alleged shooting discharge in Rotherham last night
At approximately 7.13pm on 2 July, armed officers were deployed to Swinston Hill Road,after reports were received of a group of men fighting with weapons.
Police said, during the altercation, a firearm was discharged, prompting an immediate response.
Two men, aged 67 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
One of the men was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Additionally, two men aged 21 were arrested on suspicion of affray.
All four remain in police custody as enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Claire Moss, of South Yorkshire Policeโs Armed Crime Team, stated: โUsing a firearm as a weapon will not be tolerated within South Yorkshire. A team of detectives is working at pace to ensure those responsible for posing this risk to our communities are brought to justice.
“From CCTV enquiries, we know that vehicles were passing through the area at the time. We are urging anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident, or events leading up to it, to come forward.”

A police cordon remains in place around Swinston Hill Road, with neighbourhood officers conducting additional patrols to reassure the community.
DI Moss added: โWe understand that incidents involving firearms can cause significant concern. Please speak to local officers on patrol today if you have any worries โ they are there to support you.โ
