A section of a busy town centre road was cordoned off by police following reports of a stabbing that occurred overnight
The incident is believed to have taken place between 11pm and 2am in the area between the junction of High Street and Church Street, extending to a nearby alleyway.
Officers established a police cordon earlier this morning (Friday, July 26), and a visible police presence remains at the scene.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing blood-stained items on the ground and said there was blood on the pavement within the cordoned area.
The exact circumstances of the incident have not yet been confirmed, and it is not known whether any arrests have been made or if the victim has sustained life-threatening injuries.
