A man has been charged following a reported firearms discharge in Dinnington that led to the arrest of eight individuals earlier this week.
At 7:13pm on Wednesday (2 July), armed police responded to reports of a group of men fighting with weapons on Swinston Hill Road. During the disorder, it is alleged that a firearm was discharged.
Officers arrested two men, aged 57 and 20, on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. One of the men was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 57-year-old has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
In addition, six other men were arrested on suspicion of affray and have also been bailed while investigations continue.
Harrison Groocock, 20, of Swinston Hill Road, Rotherham, has now been charged with possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Magistratesโ Court today, Friday 4 July.
South Yorkshire Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
