A man has been hospitalised following a stabbing incident at the Old Town Hall in Rotherham earlier today (Thursday, 17 April)
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12:09pm. A 51-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.
His injuries are believed to be serious, though not life-threatening or life-altering.
South Yorkshire Police said “We understand this incident will cause concern and distress in the local community.”
“Officers are working at pace to find and locate those responsible and we will remain in the area. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to officers, they are there to listen and help where they can.”
An investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Anyone with information that may assist is urged to contact police via the online portal, live chat, or by calling 101 and quoting incident number 385 of 17 April 2025.
At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
