A police operation in Rotherham has resulted in a 19-year-old man being jailed and over £120,000 worth of cannabis being seized
Acting on intelligence gathered from local communities, detectives from the Fortify team executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a property on Claremont Street, Kimberworth in December last year.
Upon forcing entry, officers discovered four rooms converted into a sophisticated cannabis cultivation operation, containing 117 plants with an estimated street value of up to £120,750.
Inside the property, police found 19-year-old Aldo Hasani in an upstairs bedroom. He was detained and later charged with the production of a controlled drug of Class B – cannabis.
Detective Constable Henwood of the Fortify Team said: “Drugs are intrinsically linked to organised crime, which fuels violence, intimidation, and fear in our communities. This is something we will not tolerate.
“We are committed to disrupting supply chains and dismantling criminal networks. Our work does not stop at seizing drugs – we ensure those responsible face justice.”
Hasani, of Cromford Street, Sheffield, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on 16 January, where he pleaded guilty to the charge. He was sentenced at the same court on 19 March to two years in a young offender institution.
