Did You See the Mysterious Blue Spiral in the Sky Tonight?
If you happened to be outside tonight, you might have noticed a strange, glowing blue spiral slowly drifting across the sky. It didnโt last long, but for those who caught it, the sight was nothing short of mesmerising.
The spiral was likely caused by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch for the NROL-69 mission earlier today (March 24, 2025).
The launch took place at 1:48 p.m. EDT from Cape Canaveral, and the spiral effect was created by the second-stage fuel dump. When excess fuel is released into space and illuminated by sunlight, it can form these hypnotic, swirling shapes in the sky.
While this phenomenon isnโt entirely new, itโs always an incredible sight to witness. Similar spirals have been reported in the past after other SpaceX launches, often appearing in remote areas where the sky is dark enough for them to stand out.
