Wentworth Woodhouse enhancing security measures to enable the exhibition of valuable museum artifacts

Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust has proposed additional security measures to facilitate the display of valuable museum artifacts

The changes to the Grade I Listed House include the alteration to doors and windows, with the installation of CCTV and motion sensors to adjacent rooms.

The application to Rotherham Council says: “The installation of security measures to the state rooms of the Mansion House to enable the suitability of the house for loaning items from national collections under the Government Indemnity Scheme (GIS).”

The Government Indemnity Scheme (GIS) is an alternative to commercial insurance. It allows art and cultural objects to be shown publicly in the UK which might not have been otherwise because the cost of insurance would have been too high.
