Firefighters responding to ‘incident’ at Blackburn Meadows Recycling plant

Emergency Services are currently responding an ‘incident’ at at Blackburn Meadows Recycling plant

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have issued a statement saying “We currently have 8 fire engines attending an incident on Alsing Road, Sheffield.”

“Anyone living near by should keep their doors & windows closed. Please avoid the area while crews work.”

A spokesperson for EON said: “We can confirm there was an incident at our Blackburn Meadows renewable energy plant this evening (Thursday).

“In line with our safety procedures, we reported this to the Fire Service and are assisting them with their operations. 

“We echo their advice to local residents and, as ever, our priority remains the safety of our on-site colleagues and the surrounding community.”
