A police helicopter was called to assist traffic cops in hunting down a driver who fled the scene after crashing on Centenary Way
On 17 November around 12:30pm, traffic police spotted a white Audi, believed to be on cloned plates in the Wickersley area.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop for officers and a pursuit commenced, coming to a stop on Centenary Way.
Police said, the driver of the vehicle fled and entered the nearby river to evade police contact.
The spokesperson added “National Police Air Support assisted officers and emergency services brought the man to safety.”
“Yorkshire Ambulance Service transported him to hospital. The man aged 30 was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and burglary.”
