Plans submitted for housing development at former bus depot

The site of former Midland Road bus depot could be developed into a housing development comprising of 120 houses

Prospect Estates Ltd have submitted an outline application for residential development comprising of 120 homes.

Roger Lee Planning Ltd, acting on behalf of applicants, detailed in an outline planning statement that the properties would include a range of houses and apartment types

Plans identified that there will be two points of access serving the development, Midland Road and Union Street.

The former 12,000sq ft bus depot which employed over 250 members of staff and housed 80 busses was demolished in June shortly after Rotherham Council approved an application.

The depot closed its doors in 2017 as First moved their operations Sheffield before transferring ownership to the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).

The site, which has suffered break-ins, vandalism and theft site costs £160,000 a year in rates and security
