Appeal for witnesses following sexual assault in Town Centre Subway

Detectives investigating the sexual assault of a woman in a town centre subway are appealing for a man who intervened to contact police

It was reported that at around 11.30pm on Friday (8 September)a woman was sexually assaulted by a man as she walked through the subway on College Road.

South Yorkshire Police have said โ€œA 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault a short time later. He remains in police custody at this time.โ€

Detectives are now keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Janine Broughton, investigating, said: โ€œWe are particularly keen to speak to a man who intervened to help the victim, causing the suspect the flee the scene,

โ€œWe also would like to speak to two women who may have spoken to the suspect shortly before the incident.โ€
