Wentworth Woodhouse will be closed to the public throughout April whilst filming takes place

Film crews are set to return to Wentworth Woodhouse in the coming weeks as Wentworth Woodhouse and its grounds have been closed to the public.

Described as a “special project” by the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, the House itself will be closed to visitors until April 29.

The gardens will remain open during the Easter holidays until April 16 though there will be some restrictions to access and parking.

The Grade I listed country house has been used as a location for the Oscar-winning film Darkest Hour and hit TV series including ITV’s Victoria and BBC’s Gentleman Jack.

In a statement posted on Wentworth’s social media pages said: “Due to an exciting project, the House will be closed to visitors from April 3 and will reopen as usual on April 29. During this time, the Gardens will remain open for the Easter Holidays until Sunday April 16.

“There will be changes to car parking and access for those visiting through Easter – please follow signage on the day of your visit. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your visit and thank you for your continued support of Wentworth Woodhouse.”
