Police operation seizes ‘almost £10,000’ worth of illegal vapes in Thurcroft

More than 750 illegal e-cigarette devices have been seized in Thurcroft today as part of Operation Duxford

The vapes were found during an operation run by police and Trading Standards in Rotherham earlier today

A force spokesperson said “officers have been supporting Rotherham Trading Standards and have seized 758 vapes, with a market value of £9096.”

The vapes seized vapes including Elux, Elf Bar, Geek Bar are found to have a nicotine capacity six times larger than the legal limit in the UK, the tank size of a vape should not hold in excess of 2ml which equates roughly to 600 puffs.

Police led, Operation Duxford sees teams from across the force, including specialised teams from the Operational Support Unit dedicate efforts to tackling the issues that matter most to the communities of Rotherham, including: drugs, anti-social behaviour, off-road bikes, speeding and motoring offences.
