Murder investigation launched in Rotherham

A murder investigation is under way following the death of a 31-year-old man in Rotherham

Police were called to Spring Street in the Town Centre following reports of concern for the welfare of a man at around 10.48am on Monday morning.

A force spokesperson said “upon arrival, a 31-year-old man was found unresponsive, and he was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.”

“His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.” The spokesperson added.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of murder. They were later released with no further action.

A further four people were arrested today (Wednesday 21 September) in connection with the investigation.

A 31-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All remain in police custody at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Knight, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have been conducting a number of enquiries over the last few days to establish the circumstances surrounding the death. We also have a number of officers patrolling the area to provide further reassurance to local residents.

“We are urging anyone who may have any information, no matter how small, to contact us.”
