Police appeal following serious assault in Wath Upon Dearne

Detectives in Rotherham are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault believed to have taken place shortly after 9am yesterday in Wath Upon Dearne

It’s reported that a 25-year-old man presented himself at Rotherham hospital yesterday morning with a fractured eye socket, jaw and cheekbone, as well as substantial bruising to his body.

A police spokesperson said “We would like to identify any passers-by who saw this incident, and are particularly keen to speak to a man who we believe was jogging through the area at the time.”

“We’d also like to encourage anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the Church Street, West Street, Barnsley Road and Biscay Lane areas between 9am and 9.45am to come forward.”

“Six men aged between 18 and 58 have all arrested on suspicion of suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent to do GBH”

They are all on police bail at this time, the spokesperson confirmed
